The need for help in Haiti is great…
- Haiti ranks #20 in the top twenty poorest countries of the world. Almost 80% of the population is considered to be living below the poverty line (compared to 12% of the US population).
- It is estimated that there are over 500,000 orphans in Haiti.
- One out of five children die before the age of five
How Can I Help?
The needs of the crèche are vast – things like gasoline, protein and clean water are considered “luxury items” and are incredibly expensive and difficult to come by. In light of that, there is a real and pressing need for financial support.
- You can pray for the crèche and the country of Haiti.
- For $25 you can cover the transportation costs for one trip to local medical clinic.
- For $40 a month you can sponsor a child within the crèche (which pays for 20% of their monthly expenses).
- For $70 you can provide one month’s food for a local family. This package includes rice, beans, magi (similar to bullion), juice concentrate, and sweeties.
- For $100 you can cover the nutritional needs of a malnourished child for one month
- You can purchase some everyday items via Amazon.com
