Giving Hope Rescue Mission was birthed in the hearts of two families in 2009.  Called by God to step out in Faith, they began the process to establish a creche (an orphanage that is licensed for adoptions).  Miraculously, after lots of research, paperwork, visits from social workers, time, and money, Giving Hope was given their legal creche license.

Our creche is recognized by the Haitian Government and maintains very high standards and requirements.  We will only rescue children who have been abandoned, orphaned, abused/neglected, or terminally ill.  We exclusively work with one agency called Voice of the Orphan.  V.O.T.O’s  goal is to reduce fees by not charging unnecessary typical agency fees.

The Haitian adoption process is currently governed by legislation that was written in 1974, and although new legislation has been proposed, changes have not yet been implemented.  According to Haitian Law you are eligible to adopt if you are either a single woman, or a couple who have been married for ten years.  You must also be at least 35 years old (at least one person in the couple).  Finally, Haitian law precludes couples having any biological children if they are interested in adopting.

Having said that, most people who adopt from Haiti don’t meet all of these requirements. Currently there is the option to obtain a dispensation or “Presidential Waiver” to authorize exceptions, however, each case needs to be reviewed on an individual basis.  That is why we invite you to complete our Preliminary Application.

The needs in Haiti are massive and the work set before us is daunting. Your help is needed and much appreciated.
